Image result for pictures of artwork depicting jesus teaching his disciplesJesus said, no greater love than to lay down your life for a friend.  I think He was saying that He was going to the cross to die for all those  who would become His followers, but did He mean that we love Him if we lay down self and follow Him.

The journey within is a rocky road
A trip long overdue
Where do I stand now with my love for you
For the right place I've searched
Has your residence changed since my last visit
                        Or have I changed, Jesus
Have I laid down my life for you or others
Have I held onto it
This journey is difficult, should I quit
No, I will continue

Who are my friends, would I give up my life
This journey is tiring
Could I go home, I think it is time~ to
Leave this quest and sleep, sleep
Maybe I'll come back another fine day
To search for this place that has changed since~ when
I don't know how long since
There was a journey within searching for
                               My true motivation

Thank you, Andrea, for stopping by and taking time to comment. Yes, Jesus had so many lessons to teach if only we could learn, absorb and follow them. Sara K

Your prayer touched my heart, fellow pilgrim. How honestly you have expressed the ups and downs of a faithful followers journey. So wonderfully composed, Sara. Sending you prayers and blessings from one pilgrim to another. It is truly good that we don't walk alone!

Beautiful reverent poetry Sara. Yes, he admonishes us to disown ourselves and follow him, no easy task, but worth the reward

Thank you, Tom, for dropping by and leaving such an understanding comment. Sometimes we get away from our commitment/s or lose our way from life's daily struggles and it doesn't hurt to re-examine our thoughts, motivates, or to see if we are being totally selfish. Sara K

Evil spreads lies. We doubt, but if we are strong we will find peace and truth.

Thank you, Sara B. Yes, sometimes we get off track and we miss the mark of the high calling of Jesus Christ our Lord. Sometimes we do what we do for the wrong motivation/s. It helps to question and make sure we are on the right road plus if we have missed the mark Jesus always forgives. Thanks for stopping by. Sara K

Yes, Paula, sometimes the events that question us the most don't have an answer, and we have to keep on keeping on until we are either caught up in the rapture or God calls us home. I don't know if our questions will be important when we are in the presence of Jesus and God. Sara K

Mind doubts but heart knows. In silence, as an observer to thoughts and emotions, we become void-centric and then connected with universal consciousness, if heart be pure, the answers come in automatically.

US, sometimes we need to search to see if we need to make some changes or if we are on the right track. I laid down my life the day I married because I gave up me to take on the job of wife and mother. Thanks for your enlightening comments. Sara K

You have ever been in close proximity with Jesus and His teachings. At times you wonder if you should give up your journey for self illumination as it is a journey through a rocky road. Somehow you are determined to continue your journey after an interim rest. Powerfully presented, dear Sara. Have a great Sunday!
