The Jealous Poet

I envy the poets
Who fill each line
With colorful action
Of every kind.
Who rhyme
On a dime
And open the mind's door
To so much more
Insight and thought,
Trapped and caught,
Than I ever knew was there.
It just doesn't seem fair
That I am left scribbling words
Whilst they are writing in colorful flocks of birds.

Been scribbling poems for about 57 years, so I quickly ran through all the "thees" and "thous" and convoluted thoughts. Now it's just "Who hit John" and move on.

Spring, hopefully, is in full swing. Beans, carrots, potatoes, tomatoes of several varieties, and bell peppers all doing well. Don't know if this is like Facebook where you designate friends or like life where you simply say "Hi" and enjoy one another's company now and then. As for me my profile pretty much covers it; husband for 49 years, father to five adults, grandfather to 12, retired U.S. Marine, retired Pastor, and a poet ever since my high school English teacher gave extra credit for poetry.
