For the Power In The Tongue Poetry Contest of Karen Jones

__________________________________________________________________________

I always will remember when I was young and wanting to be special in some nice way. One person used the power in their tongue. The dark clouds parted, and I felt a ray of sunny joy come beaming down on me. The person was my teacher of sixth grade. She saw in me what others did not see. My feeling not so adequate would fade. I had not known that I was capable of not just learning, but excelling too. My confidence grew more unshakable. By junior high, I had a brand new view. If in my talents I would but believe, great things with effort I could then achieve.

Ah i just posted for this too, yours is profound and how well written is your sonnet. Its nice when a teacher or someone sees something in us that others cant see. I dont have such memories of teachers. But i do have and remember lil things , that really had an impact on my life and my vision in life. Pleasure reading this powerful poem. Best wishes! Sending you light again

Andrea this was so special to read. I can remember the teachers that were special in my life and I can remember one teacher that should have never been a teacher. Thank God there were more great teachers than bad. Hugs...

Yes, I hope everyone gets to have that. I had two that way, Daufeldts and my creative writing teacher.

If she is even alive, I imagine she would be at least 100 by now! No, I think I never said anything to her. When young, I think we don't think to do those things, and I believe I came to understand what she did for me after I was out of her class.
