The Hurt Within
Being a woman in such a dull world.
This place in time where no one cares.
I try to keep the pace. But in this rat race.
My lover seems always to show anger to my face.
He doesn’t seem to be aware of my hurt.
Even though he hurts me day by day.
So If I leave would you miss me?
Would your world end if I run?
To go forever and just be me be one.
The times you said I love you were few and far
Your heart is so black I won’t ever come back.
I want to be loved by a true man.
Not someone who calls me a tramp.
It’s hard to hate with this much passion.
If you only knew the truth.
How deeply I love you.
But the bruises you placed on my skin.
You don’t see how broken I am within.
The children you wanted me to bear.
I couldn’t have because of your violent temper.
My body you abused I never accused you.
I protected the love I thought we had.
This is why my heart will forever be sad.
I thank god I never made you a dad.
The day came when I met another.
He soon became my lover.
The world he said is our oyster.
but I know he was only like you
I was taken advantage of by your brother.
For a brief time I was free to be me.
I finally found my courage.
I packed my things and left you.
No more the damaged soul.
Now I have found a man for me.
I will just try one more time and see.
If life is worth living before my end.
have I finally found the man who is my lover and my friend.
