The Hosiery Mystery
THE HOSIERY MYSTERY
by
JOHN M. ARRIBAS
We Hear of Mighty Ships N Planes That Suddenly Disappear
Never to Be Seen Again in Spite of Searches Far and near
We Hear of Entire Exploratory Groups Vanish Without Trace
No Evidence Is Found. Did They Venture into a Parallax Place
Those Are Mysteries That Happen from Time to Time
Yet There Is a Deeper Mystery That Happens All the Time
Ask Anyone That Does Laundry the Answer Will Always Be
You Wash Two Pairs of Socks but Retrieve Only Three
This Enigma Perplexed Me, it Doesn’t Happen Every Load
Just Enough to Deepen the Mystery, Keep You on Your Toes
I Bought a Washer with a Glass Door in Hope I Could See
What Forces Are at Work Causing this Unwanted Larceny
But Each Time I Was Watching All the Socks Came Back to Me
There must Be a Sock God, a Joker, a Master of Trickery
Who May Hide a Sock from You Til All Is Said and Done
You Discard the Survivor Sock, Then Find the Other One
I Tried to Solve the Issue, by Tying Pairs of Socks Together
Now I’m Not Sure If I Solved this or Lost a Pair Altogether
If its Not the Washer That Is Causing this Air of Suspense
It May Be the Dryer That’s Involved in These Sinister Events
The Makers May Place an Ingredient in One of a Pair
That Dissolves in Washing or Drying, Puff, into Thin Air
Not Yelling Uncle Yet, There Has to Be an Explanation
Hope I Can Find Answers N End this Universal Frustration
