The Horrible Fate of Genevere and Lancelot
Queen Genevere was held captive in King's Arthur castle,
and locked up in the tallest tower, she sent for Lancelot;
he finally rescued her on a fast horse that loved to trot,
and while galloping into the shadows of the forest...didn't they tremble?
Did she fall in love with Lancelot...because he was the most handsome knight?
Was it his sweet language of learned love that conquered any queen's heart?
Before he would lose trust in his king, he had to go to the Holy Land
to push back the infidels and free it for the sake of the Christ who died on the cross;
probably King Arthur would have overlooked his shameless misconduct
for having had a sexual relationship with his wife when he was on his deer hunt;
wasn't King Arthur satisfying her urges when she longed for his hand?
Perhaps he was very old and could not perform, so she sought Lancelot's caress!
Genevere's jealousy caused Lancelot's ban from Court when she heard of the affair
with Elaine who deceived him and gave him a child to make the queen very angry;
foolish Lancelot lost honors bestowed upon him by King Arthur and feeling sorry
for himself, he chose wilderness: remembering he fought lions but not the Beast;
mad Queen Genevere became a grieved nun and Lancelot a scorned priest...
why didn't they remain faithful by not committing adultery on the other?
