The Hawk and the Mouse
On the mighty oak tree's limb,
is where I caught
first glimpse of him.
And when I got another chance,
I quickly took a second glance.
Majestically perched
and observantly keen,
Before I could duck
I knew I'd been seen.
But surprisingly calm
was there he did stay,
Until a small shadow
started coming his way.
He flew with precision
and talons spread wide,
That poor little creature
had nowhere to hide.
Too far for my eyes,
to see what had been.
Between hawk and mouse
we know who would win.
