The Hardest Thing I Ever Did

The hardest thing I ever did was to say goodbye world There was a time when I envied those who do not treat Heaven as a toy I hated those who jealously guide their eternal joy But I ran with the devil's vision: to steal, to kill and to destroy There was a time when I relied on the vain promises of hell I strove for another soul to tell I perished in damnation, but pretended as if all is well There was a time when I pretended to see but I was blind I refused to stop but I couldn't find I explored the world like a free man but I was bind There was a time when I groped all day for earthly treasure I used my strength to pursue earthly pleasure I took all the lusts and desires of my soul in excessive measure There was a time when I spent my days in shame and pain I looked unto man for worldly gain I wandered about the world with an evil conscience like Cain There was a time when I strove for money, respect and fame For every dailies to boldly print my name On sinking sand, firm I stand; on the solid rock, I was lame There was a time when I refused to be humbled, I was so proud I refused to be sanctified, I joined the crowd I muted the chorus of heaven; but sang the anthem of hell aloud There was a time when I hated to be confined; I chose the broad way I listened to Evil; I shunned what Good has to say I was so engrossed with the world as if there was no judgment day Now just wait for a moment! Why was it the hardest thing to say goodbye to Lucifer's government? Why was it the hardest thing to forsake hell's pain, prison and torment? Why was it the hardest thing to sacrifice my celebrated achievement? Why was it the hardest thing to save my soul and quit the pleasures of this moment? There came a time when I had to accept painfully that a certain Jesus had come Whose statutes and will, I must walk and conform Being found faithful, in Heaven, God will say ‘Welcome’.

You know what, all I can say is, that the way the world is today, I will be glad to see the back of it, but could never be happy seeing my grandchild grow up in such hate, so I will do what I can to make a small difference, and move on,wishing you peace and love Elizabeth
