The Hardest Goodbye

Hoping his last reply wouldn't be like all the others, she choked away the sad tears forming in her eyes.
She was done being hurt.
She was done being the predictable one giving in.
She was determined to stand her ground.

But even a strong woman has her moments.
Even if that meant having a big cry.
And a pep talk to re-set her boundaries.

Shallow, heartless apologies
Flimsy, meaningless excuses

Sometimes the hardest goodbye is the one that's never said.
