The Hands of Time-Rondeau

The Hands of Time

The hands of time stand eerie still
Where hearts chamber a cagey chill,
And whispers warn of shadows deep
With eyes that strain as shower’s sweep,
The sands of time a formless fill.

Disenchanting dreams pave their will
Seconds follow a timely till,
While the dormant lie counting sheep,
The hands of time.

Where voices scratch a shackled shrill
The hours' harbor a haunting thrill,
And the minutes tear as they weep
Behind the veils the walls of sleep,
Moon in sight above the foothill
The hands of time.

Hello WW, I have done a Rondeau in the past so I can certainly appreciate the set order of the rhyming scheme, the attendant verse syncopation, and the syllabication requirements to make one of these writes do what it's supposed to do. You have accomplished all of these most excellently!! "The Hands of Time" is a perfect theme, in this instance, to stage and perfect a Rondeau as you've done superbly here. A distinct pleasure to read. Outstanding!! A FAVE TOO!! Best Always, Gary (P.S. Best of Luck in the contest!!--GB)

I almost chose this picture instead of the rose WW. I felt drawn to them both. A fascinating piece! Your poem is a bit dark. It match the picture. Very well done! : )

This is exquisite, ^WW^, and must be added to my favs! I am new at this poetry (writing) thing, (I have loved poetry since my earliest years), and I don't believe I have ever written a Rondeau, but this is absolute perfection to the form, and sublimity as a poem in general. LOVE it! :-)

Very good Rondeau, I love this form. It's a haunting poem, almost Poe-like, and it really goes well with the picture.
