The Gunfight
The Gunfight
By R.e. Taylor
It was a dreadful day
Black clouds hung low
Thunder echoed around
And the rain fell in sheets
Still I was on the street
Standing in the mud
Facing a man who had killed too many
He drew as fast as lightning
A flash of light
A stabbing pain in my chest
I never had a chance
So I became another notch
And an unmarked grave
Up in Boot Hill
And that is how I’ll be remembered
Just another man killed on a muddy street
