The Grieving Process

When you lose a loved one it feels as though your heart has been repeatedly stabbed,
You just want to curl up and cry like a child,
A once perfect world now doesn't seem so perfect anymore.
With each day that passes by, more and more of reality starts sinking in,
Life can no longer be the way it had once been.
Remembering things that you could have changed will break you...That's for sure,
Birthdays and holidays won't be the way they were before
Because no matter how much composer we say we claim,
It won't ever take away all the pain.
The Grieving Process is to make sure that all emotions are fully released,
Or our heavy burdened hearts will never be freed.
After the grieving though we like life.....
Must move On.

Hey Ettie, stopped by for a visit. This is a very moving treatise on that painful process of grief. I can definitely relate to it. I was still in the process when I wrote "How Do You Say Goodbye" (check it out if you find a moment). The loss of loved ones is a deep and searing pain and leaves a void which can only be covered but not filled. Be Blessed, Neva

Yes, we must move on as you say. My father died about 5 and a half years ago and I often think of him. My mother still works at 81! Hope you are well and keep up with your poetry! Peace & Love Matthew Anish
