The Greatest Warrior
How heavy the lid from his plastic can
To be held by the fingers of a child
A foam-covered sword held by his hand
As he practiced his faces to look wild
Runs like a warrior with bobbled stride
To find an enemy worthy of his sword
To defeat in battle one that won't hide
Then stand to cheers to accept his award
Hugs from his father who tells him well done
He's carried to the kitchen for ice cream
Mother says you're a warrior my son
As his eyes light up with their brightest gleam
Imaginations from a three-year-old
Is the greatest gift the eyes will behold
