The Greatest Thief

"Time is the thief you cannot banish." Phyllis McGinley, Writer, 1905 - 1978 A most curious thing is time. While you are enjoying it, it’s up to its usual crime - being the thief you can’t outwit! When it’s bad, it’s so very bad. A most curious thing is time, and when you are feeling most glad, it never will be more sublime. Each day to the sky, sun will climb. You’ll think to yourself – a new dawn! A most curious thing is time. In shadows, you’ll grieve that it’s gone. It’s robbing us now! This we know the more keenly as past our prime into the “golden” years we go. A most curious thing is time. Congrats on your winner. I like the last line.."A most curious thing is time." It slips away especially when we do soup. Sara

It’s interesting, we long to retire so that we have more time when in fact our time is close to running out. I enjoyed your winning poem Andrea.

A most intriguing quatern on the subject of time's unstoppable march and our watching it go by as bodies age and memories grow more distant. I like how you used the word 'crime' to tie in the thief theme plus serve as a rhyme! It reads like a winner to me ~ John

Love this Andrea. These days work has taken most of my time. Had 3 days off in the month of October, with double shifts in there. Time to scale back a bit, lol. Terrific write on time. Hugs

- It's crazy to think about how fast time goes, Andrea :) - At least considering that I currently feel like an 80-year-old with a heating pad as a best friend :))) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

WoW! Andrea, The quote inspired you to write a good piece of poetry. Time is the thief we can’t do nothing about. It is robbing us at this second and we all will have to surrender to it one day. Best wishes in the contest. Have a wonderful day my friend- Alexis

It robs us all (and fools us into thinking we are having a good time)--you said it well, Andrea. Well written, as always. All the best.

time, time, time.. what has become of me.. When we are young we want to be older, when we are old, we want to be young and we wonder where have all those years gone...
