The Greatest Gift of All
Blessed are the eyes that saw your face
All I have to remember from that glorious day
Of jubilation and mirth
A glorious star of Bethlehem shone over the manger
That attracted wise men, shepherds and drummer boy
To give the heavenly creation his due glory
To earth's cause of unfathomable rejoice
Angels and seraphim tore a curtain across the sky
The choir stood in full hallmark of felicity
With hallelujahs and golden harps in arm
In one acclaim declared to man
'Glory to God in the highest'
Then did we know a love so transcendent
That a king would give a poor man his whitest napkin
To wipe away the sweat and blood of the day
And the napkin is tossed from his back
Like an old rag left to be stomped
What has this poor earth done to receive such grace?
The lamb of heaven to live with us
