The Great Divide - Not Suitable for All Ages

Did you see, did you see
       Grampa said excitedly
The system works, it really works
Thank God, they’re not (yet) all jerks

Aw, Gramps, open your eyes, didn’t you see
         All those folks forgoing salaries
Airline flights canceled left and right
Millions with nothing to eat at night

Yes, sonny boy, I saw, I saw
And the deal was a bit raw
But the system worked, it really worked!
         Sorry, Gramps
You’ve gone blind ~ you old jerk!

Thank God they came to an agreement, went on way too long. I get kicks from most of the pols with all their bs. I'd like to kick them all in their butts...liar's, liar's pants on fires. Love it! ~2Kwaiter~

a timely poem...not sure the political system works to the benefits of the citizenry. The shutdown was a pawn in the political game of chess, regardless of the inconvenience and hurt it caused the country. Bah Humbug!

The professional pols -- Dick Durbin, Mike Johnson, etc. are 'above it all,' for better or for worse. If not, they take things personally and trn into AOC's, Jesse Jacksons, Al Sharptons, Nancy Pelosis and others of their emotionally unstable ilk.

Do the politicians really work for Americans or do they think we are two football teams? The losers are the spectators.

You are so kind, Kim. The pols treat us 'voters' like we are so stupid. And you know what? They may be ____________ (fill in the blank).

Hi Gershon, I just read the other day that 70% of SNAP recipients are employed, yet there are still a lot of heartless people that cruelly comment on SNAP recipients on the news articles comment blogs. There are also many people who are even college graduates who are underemployed through no fault of their own. I appreciate your compassion. Shalom, poetry friend~

Loved the title and managing to inject humor into a, uh, rough situation isn’t easy. Well done

It sure is a rough situation, though today, the Senate voted to reopen the government, which restores SNAP. As for Obamacare, however, whoa...
