The Goldilocks Zone

So, all this time, we thought Goldilocks's simple story
Was a children's fable, a most innocuous sort
Found it is most sophisticated allegory
Around which many learned scientists would soon cavort.

As the narrative goes, not a complicated plot
The porridge bowls Goldilocks found in the three bears' pad
Were, to her taste, either much too cold or much too hot
Until she tasted the porridge the baby bear had.

It seems that astronomers are looking for a place
In the cosmos where water stays liquid all year 'round
Because a planet humans can inhabit in space
Must not be too hot or too cold—"just right" must be found.

The scientists are looking for that Goldilocks Zone
Just right for the sustainability of human life
A planet earth's residents could call their very own
And, hopefully, free of interplanetary strife!

Thanks, Anisha. It is an interesting concept, which I had not heard of until I started researching for this contest. Hey, we learn something new everyday, right?

Confession time. I had to Google it to find out what he was talking about. I had never heard of the Goldilocks Zone either. Thanks for stopping by.

Looks like a great poem for the contest. Scientists are finding new exosolar planets within that so-called "goldilocks zone". It's too bad we don't have the ability to reach them in a satisfactory amount of time.

True, Robert, and I think that is a major concern for the future. Of course, we could work very hard to make the earth a more potable place, too. I'd like to see that.

Hey, Judy. We learn something every day. I wasn't aware of it either until I googled it. I wrote to Anthony, but he didn't give me any help; just said take it any direction I wanted to. I had no idea what "Goldilocks Zone" meant, so I googled it and went from there.

Creative 'geniosity,' I say, Milt. Superb contest entry, methinks. Go for that gold! :) gw

Truth is, this is the worst poem I have written in a long, long time. I hope that makes it a sure winner. What do you think?

What a perfect poem for the contest L. Milton. I watch a lot of Nova so I was aware of Goldilocks Zone. I wonder who named it that? I will have to look it up. I think your poem will be high on the winner's list. I loved it! Have a very Happy St. Patrick's Day. Blessings
