The Goldilocks Zone
So, all this time, we thought Goldilocks's simple story
Was a children's fable, a most innocuous sort
Found it is most sophisticated allegory
Around which many learned scientists would soon cavort.
As the narrative goes, not a complicated plot
The porridge bowls Goldilocks found in the three bears' pad
Were, to her taste, either much too cold or much too hot
Until she tasted the porridge the baby bear had.
It seems that astronomers are looking for a place
In the cosmos where water stays liquid all year 'round
Because a planet humans can inhabit in space
Must not be too hot or too cold—"just right" must be found.
The scientists are looking for that Goldilocks Zone
Just right for the sustainability of human life
A planet earth's residents could call their very own
And, hopefully, free of interplanetary strife!
