Notes About The Poem

The Glory of Green

The Glory of Green

Green hues denote the healing of our earth,
That special season of springtime’s rebirth.

Green grasses growing o’er the hillside's face,
Embracing greening trees in leafy lace.

While amber fields engage in heaven’s kiss
As raindrops splash into emerald bliss,

I watch amazed as tender shoots abound
With daffodils and tulips breaking ground.

A floral scent begins to fill March air.
St. Patty’s I’ll wear flowers in my hair.

So many varied hues that can be seen,
This Irish lass loves every shade of green!

 Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Hi Connie, another superb write from your pen. The glory of emerald green shining in the spring sunshine. Your words take us to the heart of the canvas you paint. your words so deep, powerful, beautiful, paint a living picture we do step within. So gently flow the words. In one word, superb. This is a seven and it is singing into my faves....Vlad.

Gave this a seven, Connie. Your poem reminds me of a brilliant Oscar Wilde poem. The poet describes a scene next to the Thames in Autumn where he describes everything in shades of yellow; yours is all in shades of green! Beautiful picture: Reminds me more of the Derbyshire Dales than the Emerald isles...Truly lovely wherever it happens to be! My very best regards, Connie!! Your friend... :) john.
