The Glorious Avocado
The rhymes scheme is somewhat borrowed from Edgar Allan Poe's "Eldorado". Sorry Edgar.
For breakfast, lunch,
or possibly brunch,
as fruits and vegetables go,
the best to eat,
the ultimate treat,
is the glorious avocado.
A fare unique,
a veritable freak,
as fruits and vegetables go -
you’ll never see
a vegetable on a tree -
the glorious avocado.
No, you’ve never seen
a food of grinch green.
Is it fruit or vegetable, though?
Indulge your itch
for smooth and rich -
the glorious avocado.
‘Twould say if could speak
“You need no longer seek,
in the fruit and vegetable row,
the fruit, supreme.
I am your dream -
the glorious avocado".
