The Giving Lunch Ladies

The lunch ladies gave so much to the food bank it was outrageous Isn’t that extensive, asked our stingy rich principal, Mr. McGragous. Not in the least, they told him. We share whatever we can with the kids. He did not understand, for he has never had to budget or live in the skids. “I lived in a car once,” Gladys, a lunch lady shared with the others. Netta said, “I had to move in with my parents and four little brothers. “ Mr. McGragous made fast work of escaping from the cafeteria then. Having no idea their hardships had turned their giving into a “win”.
