The Girl Who Measured The Moon

I held a ruler to the sky
No reason why, I'd just comply
They told me dreams should stay below
But still, I stretched, I had to know

They said "The moon is not for you"
"You are just a girl, you'll fade from view"
But I would climb up to the roof
and whisper stars my quiet truth

They called me odd, they rolled their eyes
they couldn't see beyond the skies
they never knew that in my chest
lived maps and moons I'd not confessed

One night I sent my name on air
A folded wish, a silent prayer
No fairytale, no need to swoon.
Just a girl who measured the moon
