The Giant
Few were as large as he
The giant of our family
Who ruled with stern hand,
And from all around he did command
A respect; and from every person rose
What he demanded.
Few were foes
Of this giant man.
But twas for fright or affection
They pledged their hand?
For there was a tenderness
Beneath the man
Only glimpsed by those allieged.
Still, few could understand
The tender giant.
