The Future Does Not Wait

THE FUTURE DOES NOT WAIT The future does not wait For you, me, or anyone It has its private agenda And no help to render However bright the sun For a few, it is just fate The present remains still As each moment passes Whatever will be, will be Either pleasure or agony Seen through dark glasses Understanding almost nil Past was once a future So easy now to forget Stuck in time long gone Now a mere skeleton Wrapped in a coverlet Sewn tight with a suture
