The funeral
The day has come,
I fight to speak the words,
silence…. for five months I have known it would be here.
All while she was alive, going to and fro, back and forth, science she wasn’t allowed to speak, only my brother and sister to make plans, how would you feel?
I knew because I saw it with my own eyes, her age shown on her face, delerium robbed her of her speech, “help me” was her only spoken words.
Silence… hospice became her final home, again no words spoken, morophine robbed her of her speech, for weeks on end, just holding her hand, brushing her hair, an angel quilt draped over her frail lonely body..
Silence, as I sat with her, seeing the woman who selfishly tendered to all 8 of her kids, now as adults, no where in sight, only my oldest brother day after day, her constant companion, oh how I miss his sight.
I left her side, home we went, silence as I lay in bed, I get up as I cannot sleep, I turn on my phone, my beloved beautiful mom, her last breath she took, Jesus is with her now, no more silence, but JOY, LOVE, she sees..
The funeral is more of a rivalry,
Silence, nobody to help, everyone left,
The church we enter, no family, just strangers, acting like nobody cares,
Jesus tell my mom I love her,
Because at this point, I’m invisible to my family.
