The Fruit of the Tree

The bible says
You'll know my people
by the apples that fall from their tree
But what does that mean

The apples are the fruit of the tree
The product that the tree produces
The fruits of religion
are sometimes creating schools

Nursing home's
assistance for people in need
But when greed takes over
The fruits become feather beds for themselves

burning and killing people
In the fifteenth hundreds
Bishop Hepburn's "The Great Dilapidator of the
The See of Moray had nine children

for whom he provided, at the expense of the church."
Adam Colquhoun, the parson of Stobo
The house in Glasgow was stocked with expensive furniture
This is all history, which you can read about in books

When Martin Luther
wrote his seventy-nine-page thesis against indulgences
It did more than he expected
It created the Reformation and the protestant church

Catholics retaliated by murdering people
Patrick Hamilton took six hours to burn
Catholics burnt Protestants
Then Protestants took power and burnt Catholics

The fruit of their tree was murder
When the bible says
Thou shalt not kill
The people who did this are dead

Hopefully, we have learned lessons from the past
Yet when you see people killing each other
Jihadists cutting off heads
Maybe we are still too stupid to learn

God wrote with his hand
The Ten Commandments
Thou shalt not kill
Applied to everybody.

Muslims, Christians, and Hebrew
all believe in the same God
That God gave you the commandment
Thou shalt not kill

If the fruit of your Church, Synagogue, or mosque
is to murder people
Then you do not follow
The commandments of God or Allah

The fruit of your tree
shows you are not
one of God or Allah's people
Revenge is mine, sayeth the lord

He expected his people
to live in peace
claiming the right of revenge
only for himself

It amazes me how many religious cults
have committed mass suicide
challenged the authorities with weapons
Or like Manson murdered people

When clearly in the bible it says
If somebody steals your jacket, give him your vest
If somebody hits you, turn the other cheek
the bible is against violence

If everybody in the world followed the bible
You would have no reason to defend yourself
because nobody is allowed to hurt you
If you cause one little one who believes in me to sin

It would be better for you to have a millstone
hung around your neck
Committing murder is a sin
a sin you are teaching others
