The Fool

Anyone smart enough would not
Consent to be a fool
Is she the fool to
Fall for him?
Or did he "bewitch" her?
Who knows
Could be the opposite
Could be both
She deserves better, one would say
But who are we to say
What she deserves?
One knows their own worth
At least one would hope so
Is she the fool?
Is he the fool?
Never understood when he said
"We accept the love we think we deserve."
Before
Now I know better
At least I think so
Still living
Still walking
As a fool
And as an intellectual
But isn't it human of us to say
That we're both?
