Notes About The Poem

The Fight

The Fight

	Determination to remove your force
	of despondency.
That osmosis of my joy being leeched
	through your membrane of anxiety
to a cavern of what if’s and if only’s
preventing the next step, the positive thought
due to the never- ending saturation of the negative.

Maybe moment by moment, cell by cell
is all I can fight to exchange this pessimism for
optimism, so that my existence moves towards
the light of happiness, defeating the empty
thoughts and lies that try to drag me into darkness.

Dark flowers of foreboding may lay hidden,
shaded and mushroom-like under logs and
fallen leaves of disquiet and worry,
creating shadow, trying to remove the sunlight,
hoping to replace the blue forest flowers I grow.
But I won’t give up, for light always overcomes darkness.

An influx of deceptive unreceptiveness including exuberant fly off the toughness, relieve stress. This one is a blessing.

Rena, there is a courage and vulnerability to admire in choosing this personal poem to be your first submission at Poetry Soup. Thank you for the transparency. You seem to have a familiarity with biology, in the lucid way you speak of cells, osmosis, saturation, even mushrooms under logs. It is lovely how you weave those thoughts into a narrative of the soul's battles between light and darkness, a scientific angle this engineer can appreciate. I commend you on all counts. Welcome! ~ John

I hope the poem makes you know u r not alone. Sometimes these things can be a gift as we dig deep within ourselves and thus can see things in different ways. Keep digging upwards to the sun, not down. Blessings to you

The pessimist sees a bottle half empty. The optimist sees a bottle half full. A lot of passion and determination can be seen in your lovely poem. There are a lot of people faced with this fight and this will be very meaningful to them. Thanks.

So so true!!! It's very hard to get out of darkness, when you fall into the pit of darkness. It's a long struggle to get out to see the light. So we have to fight not to fall in. Thank you for voicing it out in a lovely way, a poem. Nicely written.

Relationships wax and wane with emotion, but to be overwhelmed by another's anxiety is unhealthy. Your write is quite thought provoking.

Interesting you saw this as another's anxiety, indeed that would be unhealthy and i am pleased that the poem caused you to see that view and pause for thought. I get depression and i fight against it so this is a personal poem . The hope is i believe that light does always over come darkness. Thank you for reading and commenting. Much appreciated.
