The Fall, Up
The Fall, Up.
If you eat the fruit, you will die
The serpent told them, no.
They ate the fruit and did not die
Though God did tell them, death would apply.
So who was truthful and who told a lie?
Furthermore, the serpent stated,
Their eyes would open and they’d be elated,
To know evil and good and not be awed,
By the likes the beings sitting with God.
Again, the serpent told the truth.
So two for two, the serpent scored
Yet the God that lied is the one adored?
And this is where believers begin
To lose the meaning of their sin.
They were not evicted for eating the fruit.
In the scheme of things, that was almost moot.
God didn’t want them immortal as well
With Him and the court to forever dwell
As immortal beings with wisdom to muse
Along a path that they so choose.
So the next time someone mentions the fruit,
Don’t let it slide, don’t let it take root.
Point to the Scripture, their argument then mute.
