The Faithful Are Happily Caroling

The silver garlands are sparkling, the golden bells are jingling... as the wind drifts and white flakes start to fall on the icicles of the pines; how adorable is the maiden doll who greets all with smiles! The faithful are happily caroling, joy and hope they bring to us and to everyone hearing their voices that spread the wonderful tidings! Father Murphy drinks sweet eggnog, instead of whisky; he plays spades with his imagined saints who accuse him of no wrong! It's the only night when folks are happier and nicer, even kids don't fight by the red log that burns much brighter! Mother Angela grins at Santa who spoils her darlings with gifts and cheers! Dear Andres, how nice it is to read your work again! You describe the highlights of the holiday season beautifully in this poem. Don't you wish we celebrated every day this way? I remember going caroling back in college. It was so much fun to sing at our professors' homes. Now Carolyn has no one to go "carolin'" with. Wish you lived nearby, but I do envy your snow-covered scenery. Merry Christmas, Andrew! Love, Carolyn
