The Faith of a Little Boy
The Faith of a Little Boy
I whispered a prayer as I sat in my car
“Oh, Lord what am I to do”?
And I knew that He had heard my cry
yet not answer I thought came through.
I continued to clean my once lovely car
yet my toil now would barely show,
when up popped a lad with a word from the Lord
but no word or direction for me to go.
Instead, he held out his hand revealing a shiny new quarter
because of a message he had received from the Lord,
saying, “it is more blessed to give then to receive, My son”
a message that he chose not to ignore.
Though it wasn’t the amount that touched my heart
but the simple faith of this precious little child,
and with gratitude I received it from him and turned
back to give thanks to the Lord with a smile.
Yes, t’was the faith of this child that brought me fresh strength
and an enabling hope to continue to go on,
for you could see in his eyes a trust for his Lord
a “sure” foundation that will never be gone.
