The Face of a Child

The face of a child
is so full of joy
an effortless smile
on each girl and boy

They live life so fully
they dance and they sing
so grateful am I
for the laughter they bring

I look in amazement
their lack of concern
for the harshness of life
I wish I could learn

The face of a child
so simple, so pure
profound is their wisdom
their hope is so sure

Their souls not yet tarnished
their spirits so free
I see in their faces
what I used to be

I love to sit and hold my 10 month old granddaughter and wonder what she is thinking. Great poem!

There is nothing more rejuvenating than to spend time with these innocent idealistic loving faces. A beautiful poem to honor these angels.
