The Eyes Don'T Lie
I have seen the broken bus windows
fireflies in my daughter’s afro
the look in the eyes of passersby
prompting her to ask;
“Dad, why are they looking at us?”
Which prompted my reply:
“Maybe they’ve never seen
an Ironworker before.”
