The Eye

Keen is the human eye
Though rarely used
It can restore passion
To the alone and abused

Sure you see them
But do you really care?
You walk along your path
Are you really aware?

This eye can be fragile
And some give it away
They make their vows
They hand it over on that day

Or do they really?
Marriage is just a title
Divorce is a statistic
Do we pretend to have morals?
There may be a few
Are they still there?
Or are they awaiting their cue?

The world is slowly changing
My question is can we adapt?
Toss feelings aside
Fundamentalism is what we lack
Ideas and free thinkers
That is just whack

We are raised in our schools
Forced to be confined
Where is our sense of adventure?
Sit in a desk, use your mind

Creativity is no longer key
Aspiration and dreams can no longer be
But why hold us down?
I want to be free

But where am I?
Have I gone blind?
There is only one thing that can set us apart
Do see with your mind?
Or do you see with your heart?

Yes a puzzlement aye...I wrote a verse called School's Out I believe. Why raise children of a democracy..really a republic...where the rights of the individual are paramount in a school system which is a dictatorship??? Now how does this breed either creative individual or free thinks? It does not. What it breeds is what we have worker bees, and ant like mentalities who can only memorize "facts"
