The Enlightenment
I wept.
The tears streamed down my face uncontrollably.
My throat tightened;
My heart gulped in resistance,
But they came anyway.
A force unknown to me,
Possessed my eyes
and created a liquid anguish
from the realities of my people.
My mind opened up
and swallowed the knowledge
that was set before me to ingest.
The enlightenment.
Hidden under layers of ignorance,
clawed through years of neglect
and revealed itself.
