Notes About The Poem

We the People must work to make things better. Governments, both Federal, State and local have shown they will never do it by themselves. It's sad to say, but the longer an elected official is in office, rthe more like they will become corrupt. It's difficult to say no to temptation.

The End of 2020

The End of 2020
By Franklin Price
12/31/2020

It's the end of 2020
Was a most insightful year
What's happened to the U.S.A.
Is not exactly clear

Burdened by the COVID virus
Divided by the left and right
Will the coming year have sunrise
Or move us further into night?

Election time is over
The end results were fun
Whether counted right or wrong
It's over said and done

Joe Biden was the winner
The mail-in voting's what it took
Donald Trump was voted out
By legal means, or hook and crook.

The hated one is almost gone
He's closing out his term
With a cure for the virus
That's right, a vaccine for the germ

His atta-boys were plentiful
Stupid tweets took those away
The blame is very much on him
That he lost on polling day

My New Year's resolution
As this year comes to an end
Make improvements on the past
Do not break, but only bend

Let us pray to God to help us
Guide us with his love and care
Citizens can make it happen
No matter who sits in the chair

Thank goodness. All I can say is "Amen!" I agree with almost everything I read, but especially "Donald Trump was voted out". I enjoyed the subject matter, the format, too. Keep writing, friend! First glance I thought your name was Franklin Pierce!

Thanks for visiting and commenting. Hopefully, the Republicans will recognize Biden ,as the next president, unlike the Democrats did in never recognizing Trump. Will this power struggle of the parties never end? Will Washington ever get back to being a government of, by and for the people? The people must speak out, and vote out, if this is to ever change. Thanks again and Happy New Year!
