The Dreamer
With easy grace the petals fall-
He loves me so! No, not at all.
I know that I never cross his mind
So why should I search for signs?
There’s too much space between us now,
As we’re different…And oh, the same-
I can’t help hoping that somehow
Things will change. Ain’t that a shame?
A dreamer never stands a chance-
They’re easily crushed by romance;
Even affairs they never knew
Become so vivid they’re almost true.
So I, the dreamer, will hold out my heart-
The petals have wilted and I’ve fallen apart.
