The Distance

Beams all day and darkness through the night,
The Sun slaves to show us light,
While The Moon bans radiant gleams,
Or so it seems.

Both conflict in meaning,
Showing each of them in each other,
The Sun prevents shadows from dreaming,
The Moon’s light shines no dim than another.

To what they both try and show,
Leaves them reminders,
Their mere existence opens a window,
For them to see beyond what the sky offers.

Past the distance,
And beyond the horizon,
Daylight holds stance,
Nightfall creates the collision.

For a sweet hello,
To a bitter goodbye.

United when the gravitational pull isn’t strong enough,
And depart to bathe in each other’s presence,
Love so stubborn one can’t bluff,
They prove they can go the distance.
