The Desperate Smugness of a Recent Convert

We've all seen it
their cloying intensity
to the new cause:
tobacco cessation,
gluten-free digestion,
mindful rumination,
deep cleanse elimination,
erotic poetry,
for the lucky
erotic reality,
alcohol abstinence,
Yahweh's deliverance.
And we can only
smile and nod
knowing
this too will pass.

hahaha. I love this one. I have to admit, when I was doing the Atkins diet, I was very joyful and telling all my friends. Of course, it passed. who can go more than a few years without GREAT CARBS?

Thanks Andrea, yes some cards offer comfort too .We have friends on paleo and ketonic diets which seem to work for them but as in many things, the middle path may be best.

I dont smoke, yes I am a glutton, is gluten plural for that? Now who doesn't love erotic poetry, and drinking is well a sin, a darn sin I tell you, well if you drink between 3.am and 3.15 am, otherwise its a hell of a lot of fun, now after dinner, lots of things "pass" Needless to say I loved this poem! Cheers, a fellow Canuck!

Try to tell that to my West Coast, Oregon family... They just keep getting freaker and freaker in what they believe... They just told me it's the God given truth that before harvesting wheat... a farmer deluges the field in herbicies to dry the crops out... PS. I live among wheat fields... They do NO such thing... LOL.. Truth is stranger than fiction...
