The Declaration of My Independence
on the fourth of July the United States of America
celebrates its Independence Day
when the people fought and won against an oppressive ruler
who would never let them have any say
the Declaration of Independence is that doctrine
which upholds certain truths when it comes to our living
to have liberty and the pursuit of happiness
as those traits now considered a given
when I think of myself as a Christian to have been reborn in Christ
I realize I have declared a state of independence over my life
for the redemption by God has set me free from sin
it took away the evilness that attempts to dwell within
I now declare the victory like my forefathers had achieved
with the freedom to worship the God that I love and believe
the adversary no longer has any dominion over my life
for I've been cleansed by the blood of my Redeemer Jesus the Christ
no longer will I allow any sin to direct my behavior
I'm now standing on the foundation of the word of Jesus the Christ my Savior
sin is never satisfied and it's progressive in its natural form
it starts with curiosity and then goes on and on
and you can't get over on sin as it will weaken you every time
it will lead to destructive tendencies and will take your last dime
it derives from the devil since the moment he fell down to Earth
but thank God for the blood sacrifice of Jesus for I now have rebirth
Paul in a letter to the Roman church emphasized this very point
to tell them that as disciples of the Gospel that now have freedom in this joint
so declare your independence from that stronghold called sin
to celebrate your victory with prayer again, again and again
I declare that I hold these truths to be self-evident
that from the tyranny of sin I am now independent
no longer bound by any words nor any deeds that have belittled me
no longer caught up in toxic relationships that won't allow me to be free
no longer under the influence of what the world has to say
I declare my independence from sin on this day
