The Death of Me
A raging battle
Between the sky and sea
The ground is cracking
The air is choking
Pieces of a plastered heart
beneath filleted meat
Spewing hate and rage
The venom enters your veins
Paralyzing fear
The ground is shaking
The sky is falling
A crumbling mountain of hope
falls beneath the sea
Unable to breathe; held underneath
Begging for the pressure to lift
A helping hand, a plea!
Tumbling and thrashing
In a downward spiral
All fight is gone
Allowing the waves to cover me
In hopes the current carries to safety
A journey of blistered feet
Dry mouthed, swollen eyes
The fog too thick to see
The dimming light ahead of me
As laughter turns to screams
I hate it, I hate it!
I hate what you've given me
Where is the peace!
Words fall on a deaf audience
A round of applause is all that's received
Ah, the life of a puppet
Hung by its own strings
Powerless and defeated
The core of a hollow being
Chest is tightening, trembling lips
A dizzying dance of retreat
This monstrosity
that bloomed from a mother's
Womb; and heart
- A shame
To sow a seed
To watch it grow
Delicate petals, solid structure
Treacherous center
Invasive roots suffocate the beauty
For he is King
And I am merely a
Servant at his feet
