The Day I Met Sir Norman Wisdom
I used to waitress in a restaurant to earn some extra money
One night we had a very special diner he was incredibly funny
I wasn’t aware he was dining until he walked in through the door
My mouth was agog with amazement I almost dropped down to the floor
I welcomed him in with a big grin and he made a little joke
He tweaked my nose and made me laugh as he did the other folk
He held court at the dining table
I’d listen in when I was able
We now have Sir Norman’s Bar in Douglas City
Sir Norman has now passed it was such a great pity
The walls of the bar are plastered with relics of this lovely man
I love to look at these photos whenever I can
His funeral was like a state event the traffic it stood still
He still has fans all over the world I hope he always will
My husband attended the funeral and gave the coffin a stroke
Will never forget ‘Sir Norman’ such a wonderful funny bloke
