The Darkened Sky Stole My Tears

Darkness devours my miserly despondent room.
Wide windows covered shutting all luminous light
A taciturn thief that stole even the stars.
I sigh, a sudden suffering, it steals my sorrow from my eyes.
“The Darkened Sky Stole My Tears.”

She had left for good, no reason given.
Sorrowful soreness cling to my weary heart.
I feel a dreadful dirge hurting inside my breast,
My humble heart dances a worthless wake.
And still no sign of a flash of light in the dark.

My heart beats an echo of an illogic rhythm.
A mournful lullaby comes and goes in my head.
I curse the hush of darkened air, desperate echoes.
The mournful dirge suddenly flickers light
Through louvers and then I find my dreadful tears.

This is so sad. The image you shared with this poem is also sad. I feel like you wrote the story of pain in the young man of your shared picture's sorrowful eyes.

Victor, your remarkable poem describes a sadness which defies tears. An interesting and dark poem, though I'm glad light was beginning to break through at the end. :)

If you penned these gorgeous lines before you read my poem then perhaps it's why you were down. These are lines of longing and so poetic written by your pen, my friend. This is a poem that lingers. Poetry hugs and mail ... CayCay

Victor, your outstanding poem evokes a deep and moving depiction of love gone by, with its enveloping sadness. Very movingly penned, as if from the point of view of someone experiencing excruciating mental distress. Best wishes

Dear Victor, the embracing melancholy of your verse paints a soulful, mournful, emotional portrait of love lost. I was immersed in the darkness and the tears. Such sadness so beautifully expressed. Warmest wishes my poet friend.. ~Susan

- A deep sorrow in the darkness, Victor - There is always light at the end of the tunnel we have been told, some tunnels are just longer than others - Lovely written, good luck in the contest :) - hugs
