The Dark Side

should i tell them
should i let them know
what i have inside me
that nobody knows

should i make a confession
of all of my crimes
and if i really do it
will they drop a dime

everything i'm thinking
i think that they thought of too
i'm so very sure
that they all have a clue

and when it comes to sinning
i'm only just beggining
waiting for time and the world
to teach me something new

the lust of the eye's
and the pride of the heart
the needs of the flesh
invent the dark arts

it is in the cerimony
the worship, the ritual
where we sacrifice to ourselves
to satisfy our hearts

to steal, to avenge, to fornicate
with impunity
to kill, to maim, to imprison
a thing of beauty

to lie, to cheat, to see but
turn the other way
to remember but forget
who it is to we should pray

to raise up our throne
above almighty gods
make ourselves rulers
and that our only cause

now you see the
darkest side of me
nothing new
the twin of thee

(Hey ! what happen to the dark poet contest that this was going into!!!)

wow, this has a powrful meaning in a way, how you write of the things we do just to satisfy our own, there are two ways it can go, either its selfish, and you are the only who doesn't see that. or you may be the only one who know of the real truth, while all else does not. -Always&Forever Lynette

Words of wisdom throughout this dark, yet witty poem. I enjoyed reading it John. I'm new to this site and can't figure out how to reply to people's comments to my poems.

Reads like problems that we all have and aren't we glad that Jesus took all that on him and freed us from the end results of that...Keep the creative pen flowing..Sara

I reread your comment, are you saying the pushup bra is the best thing since well, sliced bread?? Or spandex?

It faded into the dark....they don't last long around here. Thanks for your comments on my attempts at comedy. I got the idea from somebody who wrote one on boxers. I says to self--one for the girls.

I think we all have a little of that dark side in us even though we don't want to admit it. We all fall at times to the darkness but should look for the light. God Bless Phyl
