Notes About The Poem

The Crow and I

As I was walking in the snow
I was accosted by a crow
It did not like my face
I ran and it gave chase
Amused onlookers watched the show.

Such unique birds. Most Native Americans consider them good luck. Hopefully, you had some after your encounter ;)

Thank you, Angela. In my case it brought no luck as I believe it was not on the winners' list (unless I failed to update placement!) ~ Happy New Year!! // paul

I love this Paul!...Must not have been walking in Malta! I used to ride my horse up and down the edges of fields, and several times I was dive bombed by red winged black birds who thought we were too close to their nests! Forgive me I am with the on lookers, thanks for the laugh today :0

Definitely not in Malta, Chris! Not only we have no snow, but today it was just like spring...fine and warm. I'm glad you joined the onlookers, otherwise it would have been a wasted show:) Best regards and have a lovely weekend. // paul

As a child I had a few nasty encounters with crows. Got to watch out for them. I love your humorous take on this limerick Paul. Good luck in the contest....Maria

Thank you, Maria. Crows have a reputation for damaging crops; they can also be mischievous and aggressive, so I think I'll avoid them to be on the safe side! Regards // paul
