The Cradle of Mankind

THE CRADLE OF MANKIND.

The archaeologists of this era
Were about to excitedly find
The Cradle of Mankind
Where the origins of humankind
Had been found, the news was about
To be revealed to the whole world
And so the ears of our globe were glued
To their radios in 1947, they heard,
About this mammoth remarkable finding
Painstakingly excavated , it’s evidence binding.
Mrs Ples’s skull was found,
And with carbon dating,
Archaeologists were rewarded
Most certainly worth waiting!
Estimated to be 2.3 million years’ old.
Mrs Ples (as the archaeologists named her)
All this time had been hidden
For many a year
But there is still more to hear!
It is said that she is the missing link,
We may each think what we want to think!
Archaeologists were about to discover
Other unbelievable phenomena,
Which supported the belief of evolution,
And steered many into total confusion!
God is omnipresent, and
The Alpha and Omega, He has been
Looking down on earth for millenniums
From the beginning of time,
He is omniscient, He believes in me,
And I in Him, He is the Divine!
The Sterkfontein caves are now famous,
Planet Earth was listening, this story was big!
In 1998 archaeologists discover
Yet another important find,
This boggled the mind!
They laboriously dug in this one excavation
Over twenty years, Layer upon layer of ground
And thus Little Foot was found!
He, some say it’s a she, was gently assembled,
And lies in a Pretoria museum,
Together with Mrs Ples,
Archaeologists still dig,
They insist, that there are still hidden treasures
And take great measures,
To work carefully and diligently
Excitedly say there is much more to find
Underneath and beyond the Sterkfontein caves,
Patiently, waiting to uncover
Yet another, one of a kind!
I believe with soul, heart and being
In The Almighty, maybe He even lent the
Archaeologists a helping hand, we cannot
Ignore these finds, they are not fantasy but real
Furthermore we were given the gift of logic,
And ultimately the archaeologists will kneel,
And praise and thank God Almighty!

We cannot dispute with what the archeologists have found and are trying to prove. But none can deny that there is a power controlling everything and He is the grand designer of the universe. You have written a beautiful poem substantiating the theory of Evolution. A masterful penning, Jenny ! Muh enjoyed....! Stay Blessed.

Archaeologists have for many years been tackling an enormous jigsaw puzzle, intent on finding and fitting the missing pieces. Excavations, artefacts and other remains help us to learn more about the development of the human race, and in the process arrive to the recognition of the creator of all. I truly enjoyed this lengthy poem which ought to make us stop awhile and ponder ... Warm regards & Hugs // paul

Hi Paul, yes, that is all it does, makes us ponder for we have been gifted with logic, we cannot deny what our brain thinks. I wanted to be an Archaeologist but things turned out differently - one cannot plan too much in life, we must account for the unexpected. A wonderful comment Paul. Warm regards and hugs, Jennifer.

I love what Running Wolves said below that Stephen Hawking finally realized the world is too orderly not to be of God!

God knew what the Archaeologists were doing - He is omniscient and omnipotent, he could have stopped them in their tracks if he wanted for He is our Divine Creator, and he created the world over how long 7 what ???? days, hundreds, thousands millions, billions of years????? I also believe in God our Father, but we do have a mind as well, which He gave us ,if we want to be truthful to our own selves. Blessings, Jennifer.

Thank-you Andrea, I just made a poem from my own words about what South African Archaeologists have discovered at the Cradle of Mankind, the Sterkfontein Caves. All over the world Archaeology discovers and uncovers secrets of the past. Thank-you Andrea for a lovely comment. Blessings, Jennifer.

Awesomely thought provoking. Personally I believe God created everything. Then with everything left to its own destiny, it developed a survival skill known as adaptation. The ability to change and survive in a changing world. Even Stephen Hawking said just before his death, that he believed the universe was proving God's existence. He said basically that the universe was to orderly and there were to many things science couldn't explain...

Hi RW I also believe God created the world in 7...... maybe trillion years, and I like the word adaptation to the environment and its own destiny. The thing is archaeology is not a science per say, it is "the study of societies and peoples of the past by examining the remains of their buildings, tools and other objects" as quoted by the Cobuild Advanced English Dictionary. Archaeology has utilized carbon dating ( a scientific tool) to measure the approximate time of any findings. It is a complex debate, but yes God is at the realm! Blessings, Jennifer.

I wanted to ask you if I may use Wingster in my next superheroes poem - thanks for an awesome comment. Poetic hugs and love from the Jennster.

Kudos my friend, you always write about something not so ordinary--and much credit to the patience of those who invest their lives in discovery-- so humanity can learn from its past. Science always speaks to truth--whatever power may be behind it. Much deserved accolades for your poem!

Vijay thank-you dear friend, a thoughtful, awesome comment. I think i approached a touchy subject with some poets but it wasn't my intention to rile them as I believe in God but how can we deny the findings of these highly skilled and schooled people. The Sterkfontein Caves are literally about 70 kilometers from where we live, and tourists are taken there by the busload, all day, every day. Blessings and poetic hugs, Jennifer.

when i was in school...i went from catholic school to public school and learned of God, then evolution...i didn't do well with the science classes and actually told my teacher perhaps he evolved from an ape but i was a child of God...needless to say i flunked his class... they can't deny his existence ... i believe he has led them to these discoveries and perhaps they will find more... enjoyed this one Jennifer :) hugs

Love this. Well written from alpha to omega... Yes, "He" probably helped them... he likes to keep them busy... But they have no true idea, about dates. It has been repeatedly proved invalid... and unpredictable at best. The only actual dates are in the bible and perfect even to the end. Well written as always. I think you need to write a book. Hugs. Thanks for a lovely comment Ann, I'm certain it was God's helping hand that directed them to this excavation site, These historical finds are quite amazing - our world is literally sitting on layer upon layer of bygone civilizations. Thank you for a brilliant comment. Blessings and hugs, Jennifer.

I can't really relate to "creationists," Jennifer as I believe God created evolution. I have researched extensively this topic. Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon man shared no "link." We have to keep digging. Mrs Ples and Little Foot probably had ancestors! Excellent and mesmerizing for me. A Fave for sure! Hugs, Carolyn

Hi Carolyn, I absolutely love your comment - yes I also believe that God and evolution are related. How else can we explain their findings, we believe and trust in God, but our logic tells us to keep on digging. Archaeologists are constantly finding something new in each and every continent. Thank-you for an awesome comment Carolyn, love and hugs, Jennifer.
