The Cowichan River
The swimming hole at the river
Is where I learned to swim.
We'd spend many a summer day there
Climbing from limb to limb.
We learned to float and dog paddle
And dropped from branches into the stream.
Swing on rope swings, playing our games,
Remembering it is like a dream.
Whenever I see that old river
It brings a smile to my face.
Memories of my childhood
And a better time and place.
I see other children play there now
Creating memories of their own
And years from now they will remember
That river, and the best times they've known.
