those were the dayes 
of the slave
working all day
very little pay
no time to play
pushing a barrel wheel
made of steel
in

We had to hope for a bountiful yield whenever the cotton grew in the field. There would always be plenty of work to be done. My brothers and sisters and I would be one. From the rising to the setting of each day's sun.
