The Computer's Lament

Please don't blame me when your trains derail, when power plants fail. And it's not really my fault when you don't get the mail or not warned about the hail! I do what you tell me to do. Anyway, I haven't a clue what will make you happy or why you cry & get sappy! And please don't say 'Lazy You make me!' Or even crazy when your life gets so hazy. Truth is, I can't think for myself (although you suspect I must), so if your dreams turn to dust, you should only blame yourself! posted 5/30/16

A lighthearted yet deep and thoughtful poem L. J. I agree, they're only as smart as the information they have to work with.. but who knows what the future holds. Congratulations on your wonderful win!

I completely agree and share your fears L.J. about the sad state of affairs the young are inheriting..

Thank you, Susan-- but already it seems my poem is out of date as I've been reading about the development of AI for warfare-- perhaps it's because I'm old but I really do fear for the world the young are inheriting....

Ah yes, computers seem to have a mind of their own (though no soul I suspect). Thank you for the honor, Laura

Thanks Jan-- I definitely have mixed feelings about this cybernetic revolution we're going through!
