The Comfort I No Longer Need
My fake smile grew wider as you made me bleed
You gave me an unusual comfort that also hurt
You made me feel better, while also lowering my self worth
That's why you're the Comfort I no longer need
My dad had just died and I talked to you a few times before falling for your seduction
I'd been in foster care for 11 years, I was only 14 and my heart was aching
How could I know something as small as you could cause such destruction?
But you also made me forget that my heart was breaking
I thought you were a friend because I had no one to speak to
I held you in my hand daily, you were the one I would bleed through
I hated myself more and more every day for it
You were part of my identity, But I never wore it
I would wear long sleeved jumpers on hot summer days to conceal the pain you caused
You were in control but I thought I stood a chance
No one to hug me or give me a change of thoughts
And when I hugged you, I ended up with blood in hands
I thought you would help, but you didn't do a thing for me
I was fighting a war everyday, i thought you would bring me peace
I hated myself everyday for falling for your seduction
I trusted in you, and you caused my Wings to bleed
After 5 years I finally found the strength to leave you
You were no longer who I would bleed through
I'm 6 years free from self-harm and I never thought I'd be here
But I can survive without you and that much is clear
I left you behind 6 years ago, you will no longer make me bleed
I now have comfort and self worth
You are no longer around to make me hurt
I'm 6 years free from Self-harm, so you're the Comfort I no longer need
