The Circus Is Not Coming To Town

Something unfortunate will be happening in May. The Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus is going away. It has been the "Greatest Show on Earth" for 146 years. A great number of fans very well may be shedding tears. All the elephants, lions, tigers, and clowns, along with acrobats, and trapeze artists will not be touring towns. Costs have risen, and attendance figures have declined. Profits apparently are harder to find. They say all good things can never last. The famous circus will become a thing of the past. From the website of the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus.

I remember how sad I felt on hearing they were bringing down the tents for the last time. The circus was a big part of my childhood summers. Thanks for reminding me of happy times. Love, Deb

Yes, this makes me sad. An era has come to an end. I loved the circus when I was a child and my children loved it too. We will all miss it. Nice poetic dedication.

Yes, I read about this. You have highlighted it well with poetry, Robert. Thanks for visiting my poem. Though the circus is great entertainment, I wonder how well those animals are treated...Not all trainers are kind.

I remember going to the circus so the nostalgia stands out in your poem. Nothing stays the same sadly. A moving poem Robert! 7 ; )

And the clowns shed bigger tears as I smile at your stellar, creative, poetic adieu! So good, Robert! My best to you, Chuck

Very clever title Robert. I guess nothing lasts forever Robert and circus's are no longer the big draw that they once were. In 20 years on our Island I can't ever remember a circus coming over here. Hugs Jan xx
